Today, we went to the Mission Bay Nursing Home to play classical music for the residents. Surprisingly, we had a large number of performers show up and I was very glad about that, since that meant the audience would experience a wide range of music. One specific moment that stayed with me would honestly just be the whole experience. This was the first time where I held a leadership role (manager,) and it taught me a lot of things. For one, piano accompaniments are hard to set up, and it was hard to perform and manage at the same time. I learned a lot about audience interaction and also what pieces of music to choose for what audiences. Today when I played Czardas by Monti, much of the audience was clapping or nodding along to the rhythm. Overall, this experience helped me become a much better manager and performer, as it taught me a lot about audience interaction.
